About the formats
JPG
JPG (JPEG) is the most widely supported image format ever made — every camera, phone, program and website accepts it. It compresses photos efficiently but doesn't support transparency, and each re-save at low quality degrades the image a little more.
PNG
PNG is the standard lossless format: perfect quality, full transparency support, and universal compatibility. Its weakness is size — photographs saved as PNG are often 5–10× heavier than a visually identical JPG or WebP.

Does converting JPG again reduce quality?
One conversion at 85–95% quality is visually indistinguishable for almost all photos. Quality loss only becomes visible after repeated low-quality re-saves.
Will converting to PNG keep transparency and quality?
Yes. PNG is lossless, so no quality is lost, and it preserves transparent backgrounds — ideal for logos, screenshots and graphics with sharp edges. The trade-off is a larger file than JPG or WebP.
